Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia [IST]

A condition in which a person’s heart rate, at rest and during exertion, is abnormally elevated for no apparent reason. It is defined as a resting heart rate greater than 90 beats per minute on average that can rise to very high levels with even minimal exertion. These inappropriately elevated heart rates are accompanied by symptoms of palpitations, fatigue, lightheadedness, or exercise intolerance.
